[ cravings are a thing that cannot and should not be ignored.

This is what had led Hunter into getting up at the ass crack of dawn and going to the grocery store to buy chicken and vegetables.

He can be found in Jaspers kitchen either transferring grilled chicken into a baking dish or mixing up the Honey/Sriracha/Garlic marinade to pour over the top. Rice is in the rice cooker, too.

Or, you can find him flipping through a dessert cookbook while he’s waiting for it to cool. He wants something sweet, too, but he absolutely cannot do the things in this book. At all. Hopeless. ]

[ he closes that recipe book and grabs another that’s basically all chocolate. ]

[the fae stares at him for a moment longer before shrugging.]

Yeah, I could eat. [chicken in any form is his favorite.] I like my rice a little crunchy.

[he'll just fix himself a plate if that's okay.]

[ well, he was making it for later but… he smirks fondly at sungki and nods…

And maybe his eyes linger a little too long on his leggies. ]

You’re cute, you know that?

[it's literally a 'you snooze, you lose' situation. sungki spears himself some chicken from the oven before sitting down at the table. jasper can probably...windex those chairs or something.]

Cute is an understatement. [he smirks and winks at his boyfriend.] Now what really woke you up?

True. You’re disgustingly beautiful.

[ well, he would if he knew about it.

But he doesn’t so…apologies to whomever sits in it next.

He decides to just take it out of the oven completely and sets it on the counter to make himself a small plate. ]

Nothing in particular. I just…woke up…and I saw you drooling on your pillow and realized how happy I am. Then I couldn’t go back to sleep…

[ he brings over a small serving of the crispy part of the rice to Sungki. ]

And then I had a craving for chicken.

[sungki makes an approving sound after his first bite of the chicken. if he hadn't already agreed to the whole marriage and children thing with hunter, this chicken dish might've sealed the deal.]

Afraid you were dreaming, huh? [he teases, stretching out his leg. but then he looks at him a little more seriously.] Is there anything that would make you happier?

Sometimes I am.

[ that’s actually a fear he has. That all of this is just a super elaborate dream and he’ll wake up one day in a cold white room with them slapping him awake the way they used to.

But he shakes his head slowly. ]

I don’t think so. [ he glances around the kitchen… ] I have you. And eventually a house, babies…I’ll still have Daeshim and the others… [ he shakes his head softly. ] I don’t ask for much, need much…I’m happy now.

Baby I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream~

[he's a swiftie. sue him. but he's watching him sharply, looking for any weak spots in the other's response.]

You should. I want you to ask for everything your heart desires, whether you need it or not. The days where you accept whatever you're given are over.

[ calling a lawyer right now. But that was cute. And true.

Hiding things from Sungki never worked before, so he doesn’t even bother. ]

If something comes up, I’ll let you know. For right now—-I’m happy. I’ll be happier when we have our own place.

[ there’s a pause. ]

But there will be an adjustment period where Daeshim will probably come by. A lot. So…just be nice.

You'll be happier?

[sungki snorts. the house has been entertaining enough in some ways, but it's also come with some frustrations. he goes back to eating, not looking particularly surprised by what hunter tells him.]

I know. Why do you think the guest room has a dirt floor.

[he's joking. probably. but the implication is clear: daeshim could come, even for the night.]

[ that…as simple and playful as it sounds…is one of the reasons why Hunter adores this gremlin.

He smiles slowly and rounds the counter to kiss over the marks along the others neck. ]

I love you. But don’t pretend you won’t miss him a little.

[and that is the biggest reason that he does it. he wants to make hunter happy, but he's not a warm and fuzzy creature himself. so he has to look for every opportunity to do it.]

I wouldn't say that. [maybe because he can't. anyway.] But if he feels welcome somewhere, maybe he'll leave that wolfman husband of his.

[ Hunter doesn’t let go of him but he does rest his cheek against his shoulder… ]

Daeshim loves Lennon. And Lennon loves Daeshim. Nothing will separate them…but he will always be welcome…I owe him a lot more than I could ever give him.

[sungki drags some of his crunchy rice through the sauce, saying nothing for a few moments.]

Sit. Eat.

[hunter pulls the chair closer. the other has been on his feet at a ridiculous hour, cooking all of this. they can do the cuddle thing after they return to bed.]

There's a chance. [he continues after a moment.] I've seen it.

[ sighing softly, he moves into the offered chair and drags his own plate closer to take a few bites of it as he rolls that information over in his mind. ]

Lennon wouldn’t survive that. Losing me? Baein? Bishop? It would hurt him for a time but he would get over it. Losing Daeshim would kill him.

Both Courts scorned him. To this day, I doubt they realize exactly what he's made here.

[he speaks from experience. the ruinwood is a special and powerful place.]

He, too, should have everything that he wants. He's still a Fae.

[ furrowing his brow he turns all of his focus on Sungki. ]

Wait. What exactly are you saying?

Just that.

[he shrugs.]

There is no way that Daeshim has been happy sharing his husband. Pretending otherwise has surely taken its toll.

[ leaning his cheek in his hand he mulls that over and frowns… ]

I always wondered about that…

[ his brows raise. ]

You two seem so different. I figured you were just a possessive pain in the ass, that I fully appreciate because frankly…I’m happy this way. But…I did always find it odd that he was fae and willing…

[ he glances. ]

What if he really doesn’t mind? Have you talked to him about it?

We're not.

[different. at least not that that different. another time or another person and sungki would never have admitted it. but it's hunter, who's already figured out the truth for himself.]

Not in so many words. But I have tested him, and I know I'm right.

Tested him?

[ curious, he takes another bite of chicken and watches him closer. ]

By taunting him.

[he almost wants to squirm under hunter's gaze, because he knows that the other won't like that.]

Mostly to be cruel at first, but then I wondered. I pressed him, and he never once denied it, he never tried to tell me otherwise. Because we can't lie.

[an annoying but essential trait of all fae. sungki wraps his whole hand around his fork before stabbing it into his chicken.]

They're a poor match. You don't have to be a fortune teller to see it. And this is delicious.

[ he isn’t upset for once because he needs to know the answer. Needs to know the truth. But…

He frowns. ]

[ he pokes at his own chicken… ]

[his own chewing slows. whatever his thoughts on the matter, he's not surprised that it's troubling hunter. and that troubles him. he puts his fork down, and reaches out to curl his fingers under his chin.]

Hey. I'm not gifted at premonition. And Fae deals are hard to break.

[ his eyes find Sungki’s and they’re soft…a little cloudy. ]

I don’t want him to get hurt. I don’t want either of them hurt…

[ he breathes and moves into Sungki’s lap. ]

[he should've spoken a little more...sungki doesn't know, with less bluntness maybe. he sighs at himself and loops his arms around him. when he speaks, his voice is softer too.]

We can stay. We can keep an eye on things, if that would make you feel better.
